From the March 2006 Gallery.

March was an interesting month. There was a number of local shots from a long-weekend where my son and I drove around and explored Kentucky. I also had a number of local photographs that I like quite a lot such as the Holga shot 'Keep out', the 'Chic door' found in an old downtown building, and the Russell Track photograph that I like not for the picture as much as the bit of writing that I did when telling the story of a very vivid dream that I awoke to that day.

The highlighted shots include the Elevator Door picture made at the Pendleton Art Center. The door was downstairs and I was making the picture when I realized I needed a reflection in the window. I asked Mark Pennington to stand in and he pulled out his camera to take a picture of me. The focus assist lamp lit and I realized that the bit of color made a fantastic photograph. From that point, it was just luck at the timing.

The RU Building photograph is made from film on my early 1980s Pentax camera. The building, also a classic, is a multi-storied structure that was once used by real men to guide and control the long trains as they entered the rail yards and the roundhouse. Like my camera, the building sat unused since the functions were replaced by computers and automation. I like the photograph so much that my camera has been de-mothballed. The building won't be so fortunate though.

As I approach the 2nd anniversary of 4x6, I'm doing a recap of my favorite photographs from the last year. Hope you enjoy them and I appreciate all the visits and comments during the previous year.
