![]() Francis Hunter House Auburn, New York The historic marker in front of the building proclaims this as the oldest house in Auburn, being built in 1808 of hand-made bricks. The road is the former (and historic) Seneca Turnpike that was built in 1800 and was the longest turnpike in New York at the time. The home had once been used as a tavern. This is another photograph shot through the window of a moving car. It was one of the few mornings where I saw nice shadow detail and the light was the best for the week along this stretch of houses. I debated about removing the electric wires (we're taught to do that, you know, as a 'rule'), but it made sense to leave them as a compliment to the shadows on the house.
