![]() I've selected the Portsmouth, Ohio bridge picture for the 2nd runner up for the last year. This shot takes in the flood water of the Ohio River. There's a park situated on the point of land that looks westward, toward where the Scioto River enters the Ohio. This is the point where a lot of floods happen. My son and I took a drive to the town and found the flood to be sort of a tourist attraction. One of the highways was blocked off and was filled with folks walking, looking, and snapping pictures. Looking back now, I wished I had focused on taking some pictures of the flood sightseerers. The Portsmouth area has been inhabitated for a long time. Before the European settlers came, the native Indians had camps along the river. Lots of artifacts are found in the area, especially along the river bank where the arrowheads poke out from the mud after the spring floods recede. (Note: The end of the first year for 4x6 is nearing. I've posted over 300 pictures, which even surprises me. Many thanks for all the encouragement, advice, arguments, and comments. I'll be posting some of my favorite shots, along with comments, from now until July 8th, which is the one year mark. I've selected 3 runners-up and the top 10. Feel free to tell me what the picture makes you feel, good or bad. That's what it's all about. ) Comment (7) | Permalink |
